Nothing gives me more pleasure than to receive photographs of children reading my books. This young lady loves "All About Rainbows" and she is only three years old. Thank you!

Hello,
I'm here with a few of my imaginary friends. They seem to be multiplying rapidly this year. Welcome to our world. Yes, it's your world too. Welcome You!
Eric Carle's portrait inspired mine with Cleo.

NEW PICTURE BOOKS IN 2025
In the picture book "Dancing with the Rain" a young girl's imagination is ignited by her grandparent's comments about the rain. "Poppy says, "It's raining cats and dogs". Grandma says, "One day in your life it may rain frogs". The young girl (Aubree) spins into a mindful visual dance of all the imaginative possibilities of what it could rain. These numerous possibilities written in rhyme will take you along with her. The colorful illustrations and poetic verse are presented mostly in double page spreads and are most entertaining. Author / writer Robert Carr once again uses his imagination and artistic skill to dazzle you. When you read this book, you will be left with the joy of experiencing a creative excursion into the mind of a child. A great book for K-Grade 5 and elementary teachers.

Book Descriptions

This picture book is one with profound meaning. The main character “Walrus” makes a perfect subject as his two long teeth are so notable in defining his character. Multiple characters within the mammalian family cry out proclaiming they too have lost a tooth. The stress of loss is resolved and hope is restored to all other animals when “Walrus” grows a second tooth as most mammals do.
The illustrations are bold, simple, loveable, and memorable. The backgrounds, foregrounds, and inner text are painted with a toothbrush using various techniques.
This book is a great beginner reader book with predictable text. It is cathartic to a child’s emotions around the loss of a tooth.
"Walrus, Will You Hang With Me", is one of those “must-have” picture books. The loveable characters; Sloth and Walrus, improve their friendship through perseverance, imagination, perspective, and patience. There is a gradual visual transformation from day into night as the story unfolds. Thoughts are portrayed with imaginative illustrations as Walrus tries desperately to be closer with Sloth. Walrus himself transforms into many things as he seeks solutions. This lovely story is about friendship and a healthy example of improving any relationship.
The story ends with a fun song.
A great story for all ages.
A great book for the classroom , counselor, and parents when addressing friendship.
In this book, "All About Rainbows", the character Cleo the cat will take you on an amusing and unique journey of learning about rainbows. You will learn a little history, science, art, music, poetry, and folklore while having a wagon full of fun.

In this book, Cleo the black cat is mischievous as many cats are. He is always getting entangled in balls of yarn. Cleo's owner (an unnamed character) appears throughout the book. First she appears, cropped by the picture frame, in legs and feet only. She is wearing crocheted yarn slippers. Near the end of the book, more of her body is seen. She is wearing a crocheted sweater. In the last page her head is revealed, and Cleo is in her hair.
This story teaches about color and spatial concepts. It also makes visual the special relationship an owner has with their pet. The colorful illustrations are electronically generated.

Saint Nick-tionary
This book encompasses a visual and creative power to entertain its viewers through using verb commands to manipulate images of Saint Nick. What you didn’t learn about the power of verbs from your Language Arts teacher you will certainly learn in this book from an Art teacher. No matter what age you are, this rare picture book will empower you to be more creative mastering the power of verbs when creating.
Tis the season for you to be creative!
Hush Little Cyclops Don't You Cry
The song, “Hush Little Baby Don’t You Cry” is an old American lullaby. The author is unknown. It is believed the song originated in the southern United States. The lyrics appear in many forms. Some versions are lengthy with many additional verses.
This version, “Hush Little Cyclops Don’t You Cry” follows a similar theme of getting a child ready to go to bed. However, the life of a baby cyclops certainly gives a colorful and imaginary dimension to this historic folk song.
The star character, Uno, even as a cyclops, is as lovable as his mother’s love. The illustrations are darling and provoke curiosity into the secret world of a cyclops family.
Uno's World
What is the natural habitat of Uno and his cyclops family?
In this picture book you will most definitely find out. Open the cover to discover an ongoing landscape of trees with rainbow-ribbonned bark, flowers that have eyes, rain that can see, and mushrooms that can fly.
Uno’s World will inspire an endless potential of stories in the observer. Created without words, it provides and defines the setting for two cyclops books by the author. They are; "Hush Little Cyclops Don’t You Cry" and "I Can and so Can You". It is a great complimentary book to the others. Uno’s World is the author’s favorite. The imagination is astonishing.

Long Term Writing Projects

The Painted Lady
"The Painted lady" is a tribute book to a remarkable lady that had a great influence on me. She was a huge personality in a little pond. She was extraordinary in countless ways. Her name was Maywill Dudley Sloan.
Maywill had many careers in her life. She was a published author and illustrator. In this book, I plan to use some of her illustrations from the 1930s combined with my own. The cover is one of Maywills illustrations doctored for reprinting. The book is a biography from my childhood perspective knowing her.
Writing this will be a big challenge. Can I make a book about a colorfully painted lady that inspires children as Maywill inspired me?
It troubles me, that people pass on and in time there is little or no trace of them. Maywill needs to be commemorated. I know her grandchildren will appreciate it. This may be a way for me to say thank you.
The Stitching of an Art Teacher
Everyone has stories. The challenge is telling them and writing them so they will have meaning to others.
Shall I entertain you?
Shall I inspire you?
Shall I teach you?
Shall I validate you?
Shall we commiserate?
Shall we make meaning?
Shall we heal?
Shall we aspire?
We all have unique encounters with the people we meet,
the people we live with, our families, and the many environments we exist in. Where we live, where we work, where we learn, and where we play - all compose us into a painting.
Is the painting common? Is it extraordinary? Is it worth sharing? We shall see. For now, in my own precious time, one by one I enter my stories into the cover, "The Stitching of an Art Teacher".
I do like the cover. LOL
Now lets see about the guts?
